In will participate as a keynote speaker at the International Symposium “Seeking Compatibility between Economic Growth and Social Justice: Focusing on the Experiences of The New Brazil” to be held at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan, on November 18, 2013.

I will present the article “Silver Jubilee of the Citizen Constitution: Evidences and Challenges of the Newer Brazil“.

The paper “Inequality and the Cost of Electoral Campaigns: Game Theoretic Predictions and the Cases of Brazil and Japan” has been selected for presentation at the Brazilian Econometric Society (SBE) 2013 meetings. Check here the complete list of selected papers.

I will present the award-winning article “Incentivos à Corrupção e à Inação no Serviço Público: Uma Análise de Desenho de Mecanismos” today at the Econ department. All are welcome!

The general interest article “Ética & Incentivos: o que diz a Teoria Econômica sobre recompensar quem denuncia a corrupção?” was published this week in the Economics blog “Brasil Economia e Governo”.

The article, in Portuguese, presents an economic analysis of a Bill that passed the Brazilian Federal District House of Representatives this month. The bill establishes a compensation for whistleblowers that, thanks to their initiative, are able to curb corruption and recover diverted public resources. The bill was later vetoed by the Federal District Governor.

Brasil Economia e Governo is an economics and government blog that was selected the best economics & finance blog in Brazil in 2011 and in 2012 according to Top Blog. Its goal it to offer didactic analyses of economic questions that are highly relevant to Brazilian development, most especially those that depend on the government action.

The Economics and Politics Research Group is holding its First Annual Meeting on Saturday September 21, 2013 from 10am to 4pm at the “Sala de Pós-Graduação do IPOL”. All are welcome. Please check the program below.

The research article “Partisan Voluntary Transfers in Federation: New Evidence from Brazil” has been accepted for presentation at the 2013 Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association Meeting and the Latin American Meeting of the Econometric Society, LACEA-LAMES 2013 to be held at El Colegio de México, in Mexico City, this coming November.

Prof. Felix Lopes with present the article Partidos, facções e a ocupação dos cargos de confiança no executivo federal (1999-2011), coauthored by Felix Lopes (IPEA), myself and Karina Bugarin (SAE/PR), at the 37th Annual Meetings of ANPOCS, on September 25,2013.

ANPOCS is the main Association of Graduate Programs in Social Sciences in Brazil.

The Zero Hora national newspaper interviewed me on a possible electoral reform to put an end to the possibility of reelection in Brazil.
