Call for Paper Proposals for the 2nd Annual Meeting of the Economics and Politics Research Group (EPRG)

In Honor of Marilda Sotomayor on her 70th Birthday

Dear members and friends of the Economics and Politics Research Group (EPRG), it is with great pleasure that we would like to invite you to submit paper proposals for our Second Annual Meeting to be held on June 07, 2014 at the University of Brasilia. This second Annual Meeting honors professor Marilda Sotomayor on the occasion of her 70th Birthday.

We are looking for papers that cut across the fields of political science, economics, law and sociology. Papers from other disciplines of the social sciences relating politics and economics are very welcome.

Paper proposals should include a title and a summary of about 250 words. Proposals should be sent to the following email eprg@gmail.com with a copy to bugarin.mauricio@gmail.com and to turgeon007@gmail.com no later than May 21. Decisions about paper acceptance will be sent on May 28.

Please kindly announce the event to your colleagues. Thanks again for you interest in the EPRG. We are looking forward to receiving your paper proposals.

Estimados membros e amigos do EPRG, temos o prazer de convidá-los a submeter suas pesquisas para apresentação no Segundo Encontro Anual do Economics and Politics Research Group, a ser realizado na Universidade de Brasília no sábado, dia 7 de junho de 2014. Este encontro homenageará a professora Marilda Sotomayor, por ocasião de seu 70o. aniversário.

Assim como no primeiro encontro, estamos interessados em pesquisas que se situam na interseção da política com a economia, a sociologia ou o direito. Pesquisas em outras áreas das ciências sociais que se relacionem com as áreas de política e economia são bem-vindas.

Paper on turnover of civil servants at IPEA Seminar on Dec. 4, 2013

The article “Rotatividade na ocupação dos cargos DAS da administração federal”, co-authored by Felix Lopez, Karina Bugarin and myself will be presented by Felix Lopez at the seminar: “A ocupação dos cargos de confiança no Executivo Federal: Política e Burocracia” to be held at IPEA on December 4, 2013, from 10am to 5pm.

Citation in the Japanese Asahi Shimbun Newspaper

I was cited in the Japanese mass media newspaper Asahi Shimbun on the Nov. 19th’s edition that covered the International Symposium “Seeking Compatibility between Economic Growth and Social Justice: Focusing on the Experiences of The New Brazil” that was held at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan, on November 18, 2013.

I presented the keynote speech “Silver Jubilee of the Citizen Constitution: Evidences and Challenges of the Newer Brazil” in the symposium.
